Parent Child Interaction TheraPy
PCIT is an evidence-based therapy for children ages 2-7 that focuses on improving the relationship between a child and their caregiver. The therapy involves live coaching with the caregiver on how to interact with the child in a positive and supportive way, while also teaching the child new skills and behaviors. I have completed all training and am actively working towards certification.
PCIT is regarded as a gold standard treatment for children who have any of the following challenges:
Frequent temper tantrums
Defiance - refusing to follow directions
Verbal and/or physical aggression
Destruction of toys and/or family belongings
Excessive whining or crying
Interrupting others
Attention seeking
Hyperactivity / Short attention span
Difficulty with behaviors at school or daycare
Animal Assisted Interventions
Animal Assisted Intervention Literature:
I am working towards becoming a Certified Animal-Assisted Intervention Specialist (C-AAIS) by The Association for Animal-Assisted Intervention Professionals. Buster is currently completing training to prepare for his evaluation with Pet Partners. Animals can help to improve emotional, cognitive, and social-well-being. Animal Assisted Interventions can promote connection and facilitate emotional regulation and grounding.
